Originals and Multiples (prints)
SiliCon 2009 Art Show conforms to CA Civil Codes 1740-1745 regarding the sale of fine art. We accept originals and fine art multiples, per the definitions in CA Civil Code 1740:
- (a) "Fine art multiple" or "multiple" for the purposes of this title means any fine print, photograph (positive or negative), sculpture cast,
collage, or similar art object produced in more than one copy. Pages or sheets taken from books and magazines and offered for sale or sold as art objects
shall be included, but books and magazines are excluded.
- (b) "Fine print" or "print" means a multiple produced by, but not limited to, engraving, etching, woodcutting, lithography, and serigraphy, and means multiples produced or developed from photographic negatives, or any combination thereof.
If you are unsure whether your production method would produce a fine art multiple by these definitions, please contact us.
Multiples from editions that are not limited (i.e., open editions) may be entered with the approval of the Art Show Director. Pieces containing pages and sheets taken from books and magazines also require the approval of the Art Show Director, as the context in which they are displayed determines their artistic value.
Only one multiple from an edition may be displayed in the Art Show. SiliCon's Art Show does not have a 'Print Shop' or otherwise sell more than one multiple from an edition.
As a charitable non-profit, we do not require Certificates of Authenticity for multiples, per CA Civil Code 1742.6. We do ask that you still disclose accurate information on the bid sheets.
