Science Alley
Science, Science, Science
After the enthusiastic reception last year, we are pleased to announce that the Science Alley will be back again. Come see us in the back hallway of the convention, opposite the Science and Gaming rooms, during convention hours. All of our contributors from last year are returning, and we are working on a special display for Saturday, as well as a couple of new contributors. Anyone interested in putting up an interactive display in the Science Alley should contact the Science Ally through the link on the Silicon website.
Patricia McEwen has graciously consented to be our Special Science Guest this year. She has a couple of interesting panels planned, including an alien forensics panel. We have several other guests and panels in the works, including panels on space, robotics and even music. We'll be posting specifics here as we get closer to the convention.
Mark Leon, Manager of the NASA Robotics Alliance Program for NASA/Ames Research Center, will be speaking in the SiliCon Science Room on Saturday, October 3rd, at 1pm. Mr. Leon developed NASA's Robotics Education Project (now called the Robotics Alliance Project), which has reached out to over 100,000 students nationwide through FIRST Robotics and BOTBALL competitions. Mr. Leon will be giving a presentation on robotics, followed by a question-and-answer session. This presentation is open to the public, and badges will not be required for admission. After the presentation, stay for robot racing on the SiliCon Science Alley.
Welcome, and thank you, Mr. Leon!
Jesse, our amazing head of Gaming, is donating space ships from his very own collection to grace our Science Room, which will be in the San Carlos Room again. Anyone else interested in donating displays to go around our room should go to the Science link on our website. We are also interested in having people bring robots to run down the Science Alley hallway. Please contact us through the website for specifics.
Science is proud to have found a home at Silicon, and it's thanks to you we're back for 2009!
