SLIME CITY

Synopsis: A student moves into a run-down building in New York City. His bizarre neighbors make a concoction in their apartment they call wine, but when he takes some of it, he turns into a deformed, murderous monster. A fun film filled with bums, oozing puss, an actress that plays duel roles, and one of the coolest runaway brains sequences you will ever see!

This 25^th Anniversary of the cult film includes a panel with director Greg Lamberson and star Robert Craig Sabien.


POCAHAUNTUS

Synopsis: “She is Hot, She is Sexy, and She is Super Pissed!” The ghost of “PocaHauntus” comes back every 100 hundred years to avenge the death of her ancestors. After a group of supposed strangers arrive at Camp Legend by way of mysterious invites, they later learn that their descendants all had ties to the slaughter of PocaHauntus’ tribe. Who will survive? Who will hook up? And most importantly, will PocaHauntus get her revenge? Stars Barry Ratcliffe (“Dead & Breakfast”), Eliza Swenson (“Candy Stripers”), Cory Knauf (“The Hamiltons”), and Tasha Dixon (the real Miss Arizona 2001).

EL MUERTO

PG-13 90mins (plus Q&A from Javier Hernandez)

Synopsis: Diego de la Muerte (Wilmer Valderrama from “That 70s Show”) is a Latino-American living in East L.A. where the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration is right around the corner. Diego dresses up as a zombie mariachi before going to a party, in the process tattooing an Aztech death symbol onto himself. On the way, his car crashes and he is killed. He is sent to the Land of the Dead, where he is sacrificed to the God of Death, who rips Diego's heart out and seals it in a clay pot, giving him total control over his soul. Diego is then returned to Earth, imprisoned inside of his dead body, his make-up permanently etched onto his face. Now, endowed with the dark power to restore life or to take it, he must battle against the dark god for his soul, and for the souls of those he loves.

This Screening includes a panel with Associate Producer Javier Hernandez whose comic book was the basis for the film.


NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Synopsis: Nothing bad could ever happen on quiet, tree lined Wormwood Drive. At least that's what Bob and Wendi Petersen thought, before they met their new neighbor... But behind every perfect neighborhood, there hides a dark secret. On Wormwood Drive that secret is named Adrien Trumbull. Seemingly friendly, yet disturbingly intense, the hulking Trumbull welcomes his young new neighbors with a greeting of a box chocolates and kind words. Touched by his neighborly gestures, Bob and Wendi gratefully accept Trumbull's thoughtful gifts and friendship. However, Trumbull is not at all what he seems to be. Behind his welcoming grin lurks a dark obsession with poison and self-mutilation and within the walls of his rancid home, hides pure madness. For Bob and Wendi Petersen, the neighborhood of their dreams is about to become a living nightmare. As darkness falls, they will soon learn the true meaning of fear. For on Wormwood Drive, the night has eyes and the neighbors are watching. Based on two true stories.


THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

Synopsis: Based on the Jack Ketchum novel of the same name, the film follows the 1965 true story about Sylvia Likens who was brutally tortured and eventually murdered in the basement of a family member's Indiana home….most of which was the doing of the neighborhood children as adults either turned a blind eye or encouraged it. Produced by Andrew van den Houten (“Headspace”).


CLOSET SPACE

R – 90mins

Synopsis: There are thin places between this world and the next where dark, ancient, unfathomable beings chew and dig, moving inexorably closer, driven by alien thoughts and desires. What happens when the hunger for knowledge comes up against the insatiable hunger for flesh? Six grad students learn the answer as they explore the depths of the Closet Space. A hastily assembled rescue party turns into a movable feast where mere survival becomes a nearly unreachable goal. Can any of them escape or will the Closet Space claim each one, body and soul? Directed by Mel House (“Witchcraft 13”) from a script by Jason Stewart (“Fearmakers”).

Synopsis: A race of alien robots has conquered the Earth and forced humanity underground. After three hundred years of domination, a small group of humans develop a plan to defeat the mechanical invaders in the ultimate battle between man and machine. Directed by Leigh Scott (“Dracula’s Curse”) and stars Eliza Swenson (“Frankenstein Reborn”).


Gris Grimly’s Cannibal Flesh Riot

PG-13 - 30mins

Synopsis: &ldquot;Oozes cannibalistic Charm.&rdquot; – HorrorYearbook.com. Stash and Hub, two redneck ghouls, journey through a graveyard to do what ghouls have done for centuries: grave defiling and cannibalism. On their midnight walk, they rant about their idiosyncrasies. But Stash and Hub have raided the resting place of the deceased one too many times and the dead do not take lightly being fed on for centuries. This short film is the directorial debut for author/illustrator Gris Grimly (“Santa Claws” book).


WEREWOLF IN A WOMENS PRISON

R – 85mins

Synopsis: Set in the fictional third world country of Canpuna, 'Werewolf in a Womens Prison' is the story of Sarah (Victoria De Mare), when camping with her boyfriend, is attacked by a werewolf. She wakes up in a corrupt prison only to find out her boyfriend has been torn apart and she is the only suspect. Forced to do things only found in a prison populated only by women it's only a matter of time until that strange bite starts to take effect. Directed by Jeff Leroy (“Creepies”) and stars a ton of babes.


NOW YOU SEE ME, NOW YOU DON’T

PG-13 – 32min

Synopsis: It seemed like an ordinary day. Dad is experimenting in the lab, Mom is at home boiling water, while their six year old son, Alex is playing around her. But this day is different. This day Dad brings something home from the lab. And the next morning...Alex becomes invisible.

This Hungarian film (“Most látszom, most nem látszom”) with English subtitles won “Best Of” in the Thriller category at DragonCon 2006.


RACE

PG-13 – 99mins

Synopsis: A team of extreme racers vying for the Star Car championship stumbles onto a plot to annihilate the peacekeeping alliance. As the stakes rise with every click of the speedometer, the Finals become a battle of survival with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance. This action CG movie is geared towards the gaming community and should appeal to children and adults equally.


“152”

PG-13 – 32min

Synopsis: “/There is no light at the end of the tunnel/.” Three friends entered a tunnel on a bet...they came out with something...unimaginable. This scary Japanese flick is directed by an American and features English subtitles. Similar to “One Missed Call,” the characters are digitally stalked by an unseen force. Can you figure out the significance of “152”?


Heidi Martinuzzi’s WRETCHED

R – 20mins

Synopsis: Jenny and her husband Eric (famous critic Joe Bob Briggs) sit at a diner eating a cheap meal of burgers, fries and chocolate cake. Through their ever-increasing arguments and Jenny's constant visits to the ladies room, the audience will start to learn how close to losing her sanity Jenny really is, and how oblivious Eric is when it comes to Jenny's disorder.

Co-directed by Heidi Martinuzzi (Pretty-Scary.net) and written based on her experiences with bulimia, depression, and abusive relationships. SFX is provided by Greg Nicotero (George Romero’s “Land of the Dead”).


Michelle Fatale’s THE CLEANER

R – 23mins

Synopsis: This short film tells the story of Grace and her struggle with obsessive compulsive disorder. It affects her relationship with her husband, her job, and every aspect of day to day life. After a series of unfortunate events, her life begins to crumble before her eyes. Watch and see what happens in this twisted tale of obsession, horror, and revenge.

Stars Kristin Burke (“Being Michael Madsen”) and Shannon Lark (creator of “The Chainsaw Mafia” and dancer for “The Living Dead Girlz”).


CROW PURGATORY

R – 53mins

Synopsis: Angels of the Afterlife return to Earth to hunt down a Soul Stealing demon only to be tempted by their former human lives. Originally created for a special event called SFCROW2K4, this fan film explores new sides of the Crow myth and introduces brand new characters.


SLAYER

R - 90 mins

Synopsis: Eric Carlson, a young college student, witnesses a brutal slaying in the hills of Amherst, Massachusetts. After some investigation, Eric slowly discovers the unpleasant reality behind the popular vampire myth. As a clean up crew member for a local team of slayers, Eric becomes disillusioned with the romanticized aspects of violence and learns the truth is never as simple as black and white.
