Yes, once again, the Bay Area Animation Society is bringing anime to SiliCon! The Anime Room is in the San Carlos room (around the corner from the restrooms by the main elevator bank) from 3:00 pm Friday afternoon to 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon. The anime being shown will feature the latest from Japan and some older favorites. In keeping with the dual themes of this year's SiliCon will showcase both anime that was adapted from novels in Japan and some anime titles that might just scare the bejeezus out of you. Be sure to check the door of the anime room, Siwire, and SiliCon's info desk for a posted schedule listing what titles will be showing and when. As usual, actual titles and showing times may change without notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Some of the scheduled titles may be replaced at the last minute by some special surprises! Due to prior experiences with locales that have curfews, BAAS does check audience members for proof of age between midnight and 6:00 am – and besides, if you’re under 18, you need your sleep (in a bed) anyways!

Recently, at the Bala Yoga, a well-known Hollywood dance hall and health center they enchanted a full house of adoring fans. This dynamic duo's live performances can include synchronized acrobats, magicians, stilt walkers, and muses of all sorts given the venue opportunities. A local favorite among belly dance schools, their performances always inspire the audience to join-in the fun and creativity. Fontain Riddle: Spirited vocalist, songwriter and instrumentalist Fontain Riddle combines cultures, dreams and a keen interpretation of life's experiences to evolve her music. Her inspiration comes from eastern philosophy, politics, dancers, jazz, friends, books, even bad love experiences. Having been raised in the internationally diverse Washington D.C. area, Fontain's early musical influences were formed by the close bonds she made with several Indian and Pakistani neighbors who played Indian classical and folk music at family gatherings. She went on to perform professionally through high school at local Sarasota jazz cafes and restaurants. After earning her BFA from Ringling School of Art, she toured nationally performing for audiences throughout 46 States and internationally, including countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and France. She returned state side to earn her masters and through a grand note of synchronicity she met Farhan Khan during music engineering class and the story continues… Farhan Khan: Beat and groove producer Farhan Khan is originally from Karachi, Pakistan. He plays sitar, guitar and bass guitar fluently. His unique style has created a perfect balance between East and West for Fontain's M.U.S.E. with his intense dance grooves, and multinational instrumentation captivating the modern listener. He is a sitar student of the internationally famous Habib Khan and is a graduate of Musicians Institute in Hollywood California and has earned his BA in music engineering from Cogswell College in Sunnyvale California. East meets West in the left and right hands of Farhan Khan and the story continues… Their collaboration and creation, Mystic Kiss is a blend of diverse styles including world-beat, new age, pop, electronica and jazz. Raks al Khalil (Dance of Friends) is a student troupe comprised of dancers at different levels and experience from Khajulah's belly dance classes in San Jose, CA. Belly dancers come in all shapes and sizes, from different backgrounds and are employed in many fields, but our love for the dance connects us like nothing else. For more information: www.khajulah.com Mo’ Menein “Mo’ Menein” means “the faithful ones” in Arabic. The troupe was formed in 2004, and over the last two years they have performed in many venues, including international belly dance festivals, fund-raising events, and local gatherings. The dancers range in age from 20 to 60-something and come from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common: love of the dance. Oriental dance (or belly dance) came to the United States in the 1800’s. This troupe performs a style called “American Belly Dance”, which has evolved over the years and is distilled from dance of many countries and cultures. They hope you enjoy their performance!
